More about the Silva EX3 Pedometer
Silva have invented the EX3 plus a device that deals with an issue many people have with pedometers. That is the pedometer must be clipped to the waistband and held vertically in place for accurate results. This is fine for most of the time but sometimes it's not always that easy if you are wearing a dress, or clothing with no belt or pockets. Anyhow, Silva understand that we don't always want to share our exercise and health monitoring secrets with everyone, so it's good to have a discreet pedometer that can record when not on display to the world. This is why the EX3 is so good.
The Silva EX3 pedometer can be kept in a pocket or round your neck and still take accurate readings. This means it is easier to wear your EX3 pedometer all day long and get a better record of your total steps and activity. Get up, put the pedometer in your dressing gown pocket and begin your days total. Every step counts.
The reason the ex3 can work when in pocket/handbag/neck, when many pedometers can't, is due to a piece of innovative technology - the accelerometer. An accelerometer inside the EX3 can measure movement in 3 axis and therefore the position/direction of the unit is not crucial as long as it is still and does not swing. This type of technology is only found in a few of the better and inevitably more expensive pedometers from well known manufacturers like the Omron and Silva, but we think it is worth paying a little more for a pedometer with that extra functionality.
